Before & After Kitchen Remodel

We bought the cutest home, a charming little place that immediately captured our hearts with its quaint architecture and inviting atmosphere. However we decided that the kitchen, needed a little update to truly shine. It wasn't completely outdated but darker than we envisioned. The layout, while functional, didn’t quite maximize the space to its full potential, leaving us with a vision of what it could become. So, after careful planning and consideration, we rolled up our sleeves and embarked on an exciting journey of remodeling!

The original kitchen had a traditional look and we were ready to modernize it some while still keeping a quaint feel. I measured and measured again. I planned a similar layout with a few changes. Moving the oven and microwave down a few inches allowed for wider drawers which greatly improved functionality. The original drawers were so narrow, that fitting a small cup lid was challenging. On the opposite side, one set of drawers wouldn't open because of poor design planning. This kitchen also lacked a pantry so it was time to be creative with the cabinetry. Adding a set of large deep drawers for pantry type items was one of the best solution.

Now for the New..

Picking out the new materials is the most exciting part to any redo. This allows you to be as creative as you can dream up.

I chose a simple white cabinet, a matte finish white quartz, resembling a marble look. And a mate finish, stone backsplash, in a gray hue. I was aiming for a look with a softer appearance, which is what matte finishes provide. I also absolutely love the beauty of natural stone. It has an earthy richness that just can't be duplicated in man-made materials. Little by little, everything started coming together.

The process was both challenging and rewarding, as we transformed the kitchen into a modern, functional space that not only met our needs but also reflected our personal taste and lifestyle. The end result is a beautiful kitchen that became the perfect backdrop for family gatherings and culinary adventures!
