Let's face it, it would be amazing if we never had to clean again however, I doubt this will be my fate. Although, there are a few ideas that can certainly help your cleaning schedule run a little smoother. I have discovered by incorporating a small amount of cleaning into my daily routine, I can effectively prevent the stress and anxiety that often comes with the thought of tackling a massive cleaning session on a single designated day. This approach not only makes the task of cleaning more manageable but also allows me to maintain a sense of order and a clean home at most times.

Clean Throughout Your Week

I used to work Monday through Thursday and Saturday. Most people would say, don't you want 2 days off in a row? Well, I now have weekends off and find that my weekends were being taken up with errand running, grocery shopping and cleaning... Then it's Monday again and not feeling like I really had off. I learned in my previous schedule to do a little each day to free up my days off. So I went back to my theory of small amounts of daily tasks.

Each day, I dedicate a few minutes to various cleaning tasks, whether it’s wiping down surfaces, organizing a cluttered area, or doing a quick vacuum. This consistent effort means that I am not left with an overwhelming amount of work that can feel daunting and exhausting if left to accumulate over the week. Moreover, I’ve found that this daily cleaning habit brings a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, as I can see the immediate results of my efforts. Additionally, can enjoy my days off and my home remains tidy and presentable due to the regular upkeep I’ve maintained throughout the week. This not only alleviates the pressure of having to clean everything at once but also ensures that I can adapt to changes in my schedule without feeling guilty or stressed about the state of my home. In essence, this strategy not only promotes a cleaner living environment but also fosters a more relaxed and flexible lifestyle. A little work life balance, if you will, because believe it or not, your home is also work and life outside of your career.

A calendar or a schedule can be a great idea... Monday-Bathrooms, Tuesday-Laundry, Wednesday-Vacuum an so on. For me life and cleaning are a balance and a bit more satisfying to the soul when I keep it spontaneous. I find myself in the bathroom and decide to wipe down the mirror and the sinks on the whim. This approach feels less stressful as I don't have one more thing on a schedule to stress over or inevitably forget and not get to. We all work differently so whether you use a calendar, create a schedule, or do it on a whim the results can be the same.

The daunting task of laundry and a few tips that might make it easier...

I have found that if I don't have to fold it then laundry isn't so bad.

  • Gather all of the towels in the house. Wash these first and instead of folding them, place them back in the bathroom for continued use. Use hooks instead of towel bars. This makes things easier for a no fold item and gives a completed stylish look.

  • Bed sheets-Wash and simply place them back on the bed - No folding necessary. It's just that easy. No one ever seems to be able to fold the fitted sheet perfectly anyway. And, there's nothing like clean sheets on your bed. Try this weekly, one bed at a time.

  • Next wash the easiest to fold items because these are always easiest to complete - Start with jeans etc. Ultimately you'll have to get to the socks but this method does make laundry easier and faster to complete and gives a sense of accomplishment overall.
